Teaching Overview

In addition to the DPD role I also teach across all dermatology programmes including the fulltime Diploma in Clinical dermatology (24 students). I also tutor on the 4th year MOSS undergraduate programme twice a year and act as an MSc supervisor for one or two students per year. I was responsible for writing the MOSS 4th year medical student exam for five years and was involved in the first year of the extended matching question exams introduced by the medical school to provide a more objective format of assessment. I also act as a personal tutor to six 4th and 5th year medical students to provide pastoral support if required.

I have successfully completed a teaching certificate (Cert Ed) and Diploma and MSc in medical education which has provided me with the evidence essential to apply educational theory to all of the teaching activities we undertake. It has been particularly helpful when designing course curricula and the assessment strategy.

Personal Research Overview

Since completing my MSc I have established a particular interest in dealing with plagiarism. Working on ways to improve academic integrity and build study skills training packages for distance learners.

In my clinical role I have an interest in the use of the intense pulsed light system which is used to treat patients with significant facial hirsutism and telangiectasia.
